Sports Missed

I apologize for missing some crucial sports to out school! So, heres a quick summery on everything that happened. Our golf team, had done alright throughout the season. Palmer Giro and Zach Firnett, two of our seniors, went to state up in Grand Junction. Palmer finished all four of his years ranked in the top five in Colorado. The gymnastics team seemed to do great! It looked like they took third at state as a team, and three individuals went to the event finals! Then there was the volleyball team, who started off awesome and finished the year with only two losses. They had an important game in districts to get to regionals and fell short. The boys soccer team lost to Adams City in the quarter finals like last year. They had some great wins though throughout their season. I didnt account for any of the tennis stats nor find them, but i know the team conisted of
Craig Moddlemog9
Connor Shore9
Thomas Ascough10
Kellen Pond10
Anthony Steinle10
Adam Berry11
Eric Bleem11
Sam Buffington11

The girls softball team ended up 4-6 as a total record losing in the playoffs 0-10 against Mountain Vista. As for swimming and Feild Hockey, i couldn't find any information on records, even though swimming has recently started up! Help me or correct me if you plan to keep blogging!

Lacrosse

Even though the lacrosse season is during Spring time, there is off season work prior. After a great year, we lost our coach to some inside issues with Poudre School District. However, we all ended up getting a new coaches, whom is very influential, and knows what to do. David Shigekane took over for us. Winterfest is a tournement January 7th and 8th down in Denver, that is indoors getting players ready for the regular season! It is a lot of fun and many college recruits are there. Also, we found out that our spring break trip is going to Orlando, Florida this year! Get in contact with some of the guys this Spring!

Latley our girls team led by head coach Kyle Tregoning, have been dominating. About a two weeks ago they won against Ralston Valley 57-47. Then they faced Pine Creek where they won yet again 41-23! Since then the girls moved to 3-0 regular season recors by wooping up on Westminister also, 71-22! The two basketball teams are on fire right now. Get people to come out, especially the Freshman, before Winter break starts up!

Wrestling

The day after the first home basketball game, our wrestling team had their first duel against long time rivals, Loveland. Each year it goes back and forth, and the trend continued. A 40-35 win over Loveland, gave a perfect start for the Collins wrestlers, especially with all of the injuries we have. Two big injuries, are the Juniors, Jacob Fisher, and Riley McConnell who already have 2 years of varsity experience. These are also two guys that are ranked high in state. The wrestlers have the UNC tournement next week and a duel after Christmas break. It is January 5th against Fossil Ridge! Come support of wrestlers!

Basketball

Tuesday, December 6th our Fort Collins Lambkins played Silver Creek which is a new school located in Longmont. They opened the tournement 1-1  and came close yet again! Throughout the first and mid way through the second, it looked to be a one sided game for Silver Creek. However, they boys came back late and got up by two with about 30 seconds left in the game. Except one of Silver Creeks players threw down a three pointer with short time. Chase Thurgood, came up with the last shot and missed. It was an awesome game, so come out and support them Friday the 9th! Go Lambkins!

Basketball/Wrestling

December 2nd and 3rd the boys basketball team set out to start the season. Both of their games were away, and came up 1-1 through the weekend. It looks like the starting lineup for our lambkins is, Derek Dietrich, Mitchel Yancey, Ryan French, Chase Thurgood, and Austin Hunt! Only two Seniors, and very experienced Juniors. They played Green Mountain Friday night, and lost, by more than 10! However, they bounced back against Prairie View High School and won! So they are headed home this week to play Silver Creek Tuesday the 6th! Also, it looked like our wrestling team had a tourny this week where Devin Dunnum, Aaron Jesser, and Brandon Dunnum took first.

Cross Country

In the month of November the well know cross country girls took 2nd place at state while the guys took 1st! The girls just wrapped up the nike cross regionals down in Arizona where they were victorious. They are headed toward Portland, Oregon for nationals. (Erin Hooker won an idividual title) The boys and girls cross country team finished a geat year, especially with a young team still. I talked to Erin Hooker during math class, and she gave me a well explained reason why they didn't win state. She told me that her and another runner were sick and were thrown off on their pace of running and track of working out. It seemed like the smallest of details could do anything for the running these athletes put up with!

Football

Late October, and early November the football team set out to go against Fossil Ridge and lost, which was a hard breaking game. However, they still went to the playoffs and put up a fight against Columbine who were ranked in the top 5 in state. This ended yet another season in the first round for the Lambkins. The guys ended their regular season at 4-5. and 4-6 to their final record. It was a hash year for football this year, and some of the inexperience, however, look forward to the girls, and guys basketball, along with girls swimming/diving and wrestling for this winter!

Volleball/Soccer/Football

Sorry for the late update, but over Homecoming week, we had a victory against Fossil Ridge for Volleyball. It was an unbelievable game to watch, especially the two game deficit the girls overcame! We had a great showing over in their own house! The same night our soccer team played Fossil too, and had a 1-1 tie! Our Soccer team is one of the best in the state so come support them! To end Homecoming week, we had a dissapointing loss to Rocky for football. It was a close game, and fell to them in overtime. The final score was 16-19. All three, soccer, football, and volleyball play tomorrow, that are all in town! Have fun, we have a three day weekend!

Football

This past Friday night, our football team had a nail biter against Mountain Range. Within the last few seconds the Lambkins scored and went for two to beat them 21-20. It was a big comeback for a victory. One of our main defenseman, Jake Hanks went down with a shoulder injury. Our defense is still strong right now. This brought the Fort Collins Lamkins to a 3-2 record with four games remaining until playoffs. Stay tuned, and come support them at French Feild this Friday October 7th against Poudre around 7:00 pm! Come early to get a good seat, to cheer for the last half of the season.

Volleball/Soccer

September 27th, 2011 the Lambkins set out to play volleyball and soccer against one of our district rivals, Rocky Mountain High School. Our soccer game was a 3-0 victory with Jesus Martinez scoring two goals, and Ben Greuel made two outstanding saves to keep a shut out! The boys next soccer game is against Horizon on October 6th at Fossil Ridge. However, our girls volleyball team had a vicious loss on all 3 out of 5 games. The three games scores were  25-19, 27-25, 25-20. Unfortunaley this loss brought them to an 8-4 record. The girls have a big game against Loveland this upcoming Tuesday, October 4th.

Football

Last Saturday, September 24th, 2011 the Fort Collins High School Lambkins varsity football team took a hard, and tough loss against Grandviews' number 2 ranked football team in the state. The final score was 51- 21 in front of about 1,500 fans at French Field. ( Fort Collins, CO ) This lead to the Lambkins 2-2 record for the 2011 season. It has been a rough start for the year because of so many experienced senior players gone. They had won against them last year, but come and support them all you can!Their next game is against Friday, September 30th against Mountain Range.
